This year's Learning and Sharing Regional Workshops will bring young people, volunteers and staff workers together to share their experiences and testimonies on the contribution of youth work to mental wellbeing.
This event will be hosted by Youth Work Ireland Midlands and will take place Columb Barracks, in Mullingar.

This event will help to identify youth work service responses to poverty and social exclusion and will feature inputs from speakers who will set out the context for poverty in Ireland and thereby address questions such as, Have the causes and impacts of poverty changed? Are policies fit for purpose to support this?

The primary aim of the programme is to train youth and community workers to deliver HIV, hepatitis, and sexual health education programmes to the groups in their care. This will run over the course of four days (consecutives Thursdays in October).
Target Audience: This training programme is primarily for trained trainers/facilitators who work with young people, and other groups/individuals, that may be at risk of HIV, STIs, hepatitis, and other negative sexual health outcomes. The programme will be beneficial to youth workers, and others in the voluntary, community and education sectors, that have a role in developing and delivering sexual health education programmes to the group(s) in their care

Youth Work Ireland Consensus Conference 2015

This year our national consensus conference will feature Youth Participation as its theme. The day will consist of expert inputs, practice based workshops and examples of youth participation within Youth Work Ireland's Member Youth Services.
Self-Care to Self Awareness Workshop
Date: Tuesday 30th June
Venue: National Office of Youth Work Ireland, Dublin 1
This one day workshop is aimed at staff working in social care settings, youth work and community based projects who are dealing with demanding workloads, supporting clients in crisis and who are constantly putting the needs of others first as they try to make a difference in people's lives.
This workshop is beneficial for those working in the community, voluntary or statutory sector in demanding, high pressure or stressful environments with vulnerable clients who require a caring response, professional support and targeted interventions. This one day workshop will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to employ self-care techniques in their personal and professional life. It aims to help participants identify ways to prevent or reduce stress and develop their self-awareness in relation to reactions/ responses to challenging work situations. With this self-awareness they will be better equipped to identify ineffective practices and engage in reflective practice to understand and address the needs of service users.
