Ossory Youth is a voluntary, non-profit youth work organisation working with and for young people within the Diocese of Ossory, covering Kilkenny and parts of Laois and Offaly. We were officially established in 1985. Young people are at the centre of our work and have a significant role to play in the construction of the youth work programme/ agenda as it applies to them. Our work is about developing strong robust relationships with young people so that we can create a safe environment for them to try new things, meet new people, set goals for themselves, and confront issues that are bothering them or develop ideas. Through this relationship and activity we assist young people to grow in confidence and self belief as well as developing life skills which they may use in the future.
To widen opportunities for young people to participate in a manner that positively contributes to their lives and well being. We strive to promote, develop and maintain effective working partnerships as a means of ensuring quality youth work provision in the region. To build an organisation of staff, volunteers and young people that work together in a manner that is flexible, innovative and committed to the highest standards of youth work practice.
Ossory Youth offers a number of services to young people and their families. All of our services provide young people with time and space to think and make sense of things. Our services include:
