Vacancy - Participation Office (Maternity Cover)

Youth Work Ireland is Ireland’s largest charity that supports young people between the ages of 10-25 years and their local communities throughout Ireland. Our vision is "a world full of possibilities for young people". Through our network of 22 Local Youth Services around Ireland we currently engage with and support over 116,000 young people and 6,700 trained volunteers on a weekly basis.

Youth Participation Officer – Maternity Cover

We are now recruiting for an exciting and challenging Youth Participation Officer to support the DCYA Participation Unit.  This work will benefit young people by supporting the Department of Children and Youth Affairs Participation Unit to provide a programme of work including monitoring and support to 10 Comhairle na nÓg, supporting the National Comhairle na nÓg Executive, assisting in the development of annual events, consultations and other participation initiatives.

This position may interest you if you have:

• A commitment to the participation of children and young people in decisions that affect their lives;
• Knowledge of participatory processes and techniques to facilitate involvement of groups and individuals in decision making, planning and evaluation;
• Experience of training development and provision;
• Project management abilities;
• Demonstrated excellence in writing reports and evaluations.

About this position:

This position is a full-time six-month maternity cover contract. The position involves significant travel to support local Comhairle na nÓg, as well as regular attendance at meetings in the DCYA.

Youth Work Ireland will consider possible secondments of staff for the post.
