Colourful Minds Fun Run for Mental Health

Tuam Youth Council supported by Youth Work Ireland Galway are organising a fundraiser for Youth Mental Health in the form of a 3km Colour Dash Fun Run on 26th April at the Palace Grounds.

The “Colourful Minds” fun run aims to support and promote positive mental health among young people in Tuam. Currently Youth Work Ireland Galway provide free youth counselling on a 1 to 1 basis. Due to the high demand it is vital that to continue providing this service in the area. The range of service varies from issues relating to parental separation, day to day stress, exam pressure, grief and loss, anxiety to name but a few of the issues young people are facing on a day to day basis. The counselling service supports young people aged 12-21.

Between the period 2015-2017, Youth Work Ireland Galway have provided a much needed counselling service to over 600 young people. Unfortunately due to high need, there is currently a 12 week waiting list for counselling service. The young people are organising this fun run to raise funds for the continuation for the Tuam Counselling Service.

The Colourful Minds Fun Run will take place at 3.00pm on the Thursday the 26th of April. Whilst this is a fundraiser for much needed services, it also aims to be a celebration of positive mental health within Tuam Community. This event hopes to be an inclusive event that will bring the Tuam Community together to highlight positive mental health and supportive community.

This event is part of Youth Work Ireland Week, which will see hundreds of events taking place across Ireland.
