Peer Assessors

Each Local Youth Service is asked to nominate people of standing and experience in their organisation onto the Peer Assessor Panel. Peer Assessors are typically expected to be people who have a significant grounding in youth work and/or in the workings of a local youth service.

Prior to being accepted onto the panel all peer assessors undergo a nomination and induction process designed to prepare them for the tasks and duties required, and prior to carrying out an assessment will participate in a team preparation day focusing on the particular youth service involved.

Peer assessors are expected to embody the spirit of the framework, and also to make difficult judgements balancing the formality of the standards against the fluidity of the real life working situation and the developmental nature of the framework.
