The primary aim of our 22 Local Youth Services is to provide a co-ordinated range of services in a particular geographical area, which are relevant, accessible and attractive to young people. Each Local Youth Service requires a core set of managemetn personnel consisting of volunteers and a full-time Regional Director to co-ordinate an dmanage the affairs of the organisation. A comprehensive and varied range of services is provided proactively in a partnership with young people, volunteers, staff and other relevant local and national agencies including:

  • Youth Clubs and Groups
  • Youth Information Centres
  • After Schools Support Groups
  • Work with Early School Leavers
  • Community Youth Projects
  • Crime Diversion Projects
  • International Exchanges
  • Targetted Youth Initatives and Projects

These services respond to the many developmental needs of young people consistent with our commitment to quality standards in youth work provision to young people. Througt our nationwide network of young people, committed volunteer leaders and staff, we seek to improve the situation of young people by delivering high quality youth work services.

Our range of services at local level, supported nationally, facilitates the personal development and social education of thousands of young people on a daily basis in Ireland.

At a national level Youth Work Ireland is the collective voice and influence of our 22 members in dealing with government, funders, the media and a variety of other interests. From the National Office, local youth services are supported in a variety of ways. Support services including a range of facilities programme and events for members such as:

  • Games & Variety competitions
  • Grants payments
  • Low cost insurance
  • Advice on HR
  • Planning
  • A Quality Standards Framework
  • Participation

In addition to services for members a numbe of other supports are available to meet the needs of the organisation and hte youth sector in general. These include:

  • Training
  • Conferences, seminars & workshops
  • Policy work and advice
  • Networking
  • Resources and materials for youth workers
  • A youth work library and information centre
